This program recognizes the needs of children, prenatal through age five. The North Carolina Cooperative Extension partners with communities to deliver education and technology that enrich the lives, land and economy of North Carolinians. The Wilson Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program, a joint effort of NC Cooperative Extension and volunteers, was created to meet requests from home gardeners for horticultural information. We invite you to join us! Program participants receive 40 hours of training in many areas related to horticulture and must complete take-home and practical exams. Graduates of the program are required to give to Cooperative Extension those 40 hours in volunteer service in county horticultural programs in one year. After the first year to maintain active Master Gardener status, the Master Gardener must agree to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours annually. Volunteer training usually takes place January - March.
