Our Staff Development Specialist virtually met with multiple local univerisities to discuss their application requirements, the challenges of returning to school for full time workers, and what their schools offer to help you be successful in your learning. Staff Development
In 2012, Janice began working with WCDSS as a Floater (After-Hour and Investigator/Treatment/Assessment Worker) in Child Welfare. In 2015, she transitioned to the In-Home Services position where she remained until she was promoted to Staff Development Specialist (SOS Coach) in May 2020. Janice is known for her hard work ethic, dedication to her clients, and always lending a helping hand to her coworkers.

Lisa Sewell, MSW, LCSW
Clinical Team
Lisa started with the agency in 2015 in the Child Welfare department. She had her MSW but wanted to go further and pursue her licensure. She was one of the first employees to go through the Pathways to Licensure process and was promoted to the Clinical Team as a therapist in 2018. She is an incredible asset to her team and is known for the energy she brings to her work and in her sessions with clients.

Shanice Avent, MSW
Adult Intervention
Shanice came to the agency in 2015 and began in Customer Care as an Income Maintenance Caseworker II and then transitioned to Adult Medicaid in May of 2017. While she worked, she also attended East Carolina and received her MSW in 2020. She was promoted to to an Adult Protective Services Worker in 2020.
